Motorrad Angels: An Epic Journey and Making a Difference

July 21, 2020

For many people in the USA, access to safe water is just something that most don’t have to worry about. However, when we look at our brothers and sisters around the world, that story quickly changes. According to the Water Scarcity Clock, over 2.3 billion people across the world are without an adequate amount of fresh water. This number has been rapidly increasing over the past 20 years, leading to a surge of 1.3 billion within this timeframe. Within this, 3.5 million people die from water-related diseases every year. Sadder still, 2.2 million of those deaths belong to children. In fact, dirty water causes the death of a human being every 10 seconds.

Ride for Lives

The Motorrad Angels are adventure bikers traveling the world on motorcycles. Their mission is to bring clean water and lifesaving medical and dental assistance to the world's most vulnerable communities. They install filters in water buckets for people who don’t have access to clean drinking water. They bring medical supplies and provide dental assistance to those in desperate need. In villages where people are just trying to get by, and working like crazy but still starving, the Motorrad Angels take the road less ridden to bring them food. They truly are angels in the highest sense of the word.

Where Do the Motorrad Angels Ride?

The Motorrad Angels ride in 37 chapters across 29 countries around the world. Here are a few of the places that they’ve visited recently:

Venezuela ranks as one of the world's top 15 countries for renewable fresh water resources. Despite this, nearly 8 out of 10 Venezuelans do not have continuous access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation. There may be renewable fresh water resources here, but this goes to the lucky few.

Across the board, a bottle of water will cost you around $3 in Venezuela. That sounds fine if you’ve got it. Look at the $8 a month average monthly wage in Venezuela, and you start to see why a bottle of water priced at $3 is a huge problem.

Colombia has a population of 49 million people. 23 million Colombians are poor and 6 million live below the extreme poverty line. It is estimated that at least 1.4 million people in Colombia lack access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.

With a total population of 32 million, 3 million people lack access to safe water, and 8 million lack access to improved sanitation. Public infrastructure and household facilities are severely lacking across the entire country.

That’s just a few of the places where the Motorrad Angels have done an extraordinary amount of good. If you’d like to know where they are right now, check their Live Location map.

How Sena Helps Motorrad Angels Ride Connected

Motorrad Angels use Sena’s 10C Pro 2K Camera Comm headsets to document their journey and increase safety along the path. When Tom from Motorrad Angels asked, “You guys have been one of our great supporters, and I was wondering if you can send us more camera headsets so we can continue to document our work?” Sena proudly sent Motorrad Angels our 10C Pro and 10C EVO camera communication headsets. For 2020, Sena supplied the 10C EVO, the first-ever 4K Camera and Bluetooth Communication System. Combining Sena's leading Bluetooth communications platform with an integrated 4K camera, the 10C EVO allows for easy rider communication and video recording.

The Journey of a Lifetime

The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that by 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas.

1 Filter $50 = Clean water for 100 people for 5-7 years

That equals 340 gallons per day

Which equals one million gallons of clean water

You can have the ride of a lifetime, but only by helping others is a journey made truly epic. The Motorrad Angels each bring with them their unique set of talents as the crew rides across six continents. And, they’re on the lookout for more people to ride with them.
