Team U.S.A. – Competing in the 2012 BMW Motorrad GS Trophy Race – Looks to Sena Bluetooth® to Provide All Communication Devices for South American Competition

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov 13, 2012) – Sena Technologies, Inc., a Bluetooth® innovator in the motorcycle and outdoor activities market, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the U.S. competitors in the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy 2012 in South America Nov. 23 – Dec. 4, 2012. The BMW Motorrad GS Trophy 2012 is a motorcycle skills course with different terrains including gravel, sand and mud that awards points for finishing various riding challenges in the correct amount of time. The biannual event allows riders to compete against fellow BMW enthusiasts on brand-new GS motorcycles. Sena will be sponsoring U.S. competitors Ryan Frazier, Carlo Boffi Jr., and Chad Yoshitomi with SMH10 Bluetooth® headset/intercoms to use during the international enduro adventure challenge, where they will meet and compete against more than 50 fellow enduro enthusiasts from all over the world.

The South American GS Trophy will be a 2,000 km route going through Argentina, starting and ending in Temuco, Chile. The U.S. competitors will be using full-face helmets mounted with Sena’s SMH10 units offering a four-way conference intercom that won’t sacrifice rider-to-rider intercom distance. The SMH10 also offers multipoint support for two Bluetooth HFP (hands free profile) devices such as cell phones or GPS units. The SMH10 also features voice prompts that are spoken automatically into the speakers to guide the competitors in making quicker and more immediate choices during the competition.

“Carlo, Chad and I are excited to be able to use the Sena SMH10 headsets during the competition in South America,” said Ryan Frazier, U.S. competitor in the 2012 GS Trophy Challenge. “The competition is going to be a test of our motorcycle skills and it’s important for us to stay in communication while riding and still maintain our focus on the challenge. To qualify for the South American riding event this November, competitors participated in a series of riding challenges during the U.S. qualifiers in the East Coast Qualifier in Spartanburg, South Carolina and the West Coast Qualifier in Moab, Utah. The final U.S. team was selected not only for their demonstrations of team spirit, riding skill, tenacity and passion for GS bikes but also from a Facebook competition hosted by BMW Motorrad USA. The U.S. competitors, Ryan Frazier, Carlo Boffi Jr., and Chad Yoshitomi will be utilizing Sena’s SMH10 Bluetooth® headset/intercoms to stay in close contact with one another throughout the race.
