Sena Supports Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
Bluetooth Innovator Reminds Drivers & Riders to Stay Safe and Avoid Unnecessary Distractions
SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 18, 2012) – May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month presented by the National Safety Council. With warmer weather throughout the country, the National Safety Council encourages motorists to safely share the road with motorcyclists and to be extra alert when they are nearby. As an award-winning hands-free Bluetooth headset/intercom provider for motorcyclists and scooter riders, Sena is using the opportunity to remind automobile drivers of the dangers of distracted driving. It is also reminding motorcyclists of the importance of staying connected to other riders in their groups and the importance of being able to call for help if ever needed.
“Even though the NSC says motorcycles are vehicles with the same rights and privileges as any motor vehicle on the roadway, riders still find themselves at a much higher risk for injuries than those traveling in cars,” said Marc Woo, President North and South America of Sena Technologies, Inc. “We hear of riders nearly every day who have blown out a tire after encountering a rut in the road or who become separated from their riding groups in unfamiliar terrain. These are really dangerous situations. It makes us happy to know that more of these unfortunate experiences are being remedied by motorcyclists going out prepared with Sena and other Bluetooth units that keep them connected and safer at the same time.”
Sena Technologies, Inc. provides Bluetooth headset and intercom systems for virtually every kind of rider and at a variety of price points. The company’s entry-level unit, the SMH5, allows the rider to become connected wirelessly to his or her Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, GPS, mp3 player and more, plus another rider or passenger via intercom. Sena’s flagship unit, the SMH10, does everything the SMH5 does, and allows the rider to communicate via intercom with three other riders or passengers. Virtually all communication and function control can be done hands free utilizing the system’s voice prompts. Sena will also soon be releasing a Bluetooth headset/intercom designed especially for riders who prefer wearing half helmets. These devices allow riders to communicate hazards, call for help, get needed instructions in case they are lost and more.
