IRVINE, Calif. (December 19, 2019) -- Sena Technologies, Inc., the global leader in Bluetooth® communication solutions for Powersports, is proud to announce its partnership with the Troy Lee Designs/ Red Bull/ KTM race team. Sena is proud to be the first Bluetooth communication partner to officially support an SX and MX team. The Troy Lee Designs/ Red Bull/ KTM Race Team competes in both the SX West and SX East 250 series along with the Lucas Oil Outdoor MX 250 series.
“Sena has been working with Troy Lee Designs for quite some time, we’re excited to now officially support the Troy Lee Designs/ Red Bull/ KTM team as the first-ever Bluetooth communication partner in the sport of supercross,” says Sena CEO, Tae Kim. “We are looking forward to seeing the team succeed this year and are excited to see how Sena’s technology can benefit the sport even more in the future.”
The Troy Lee Designs/ Red Bull/ KTM Race Team has a four-rider roster for the 2020 season, which includes Brandon Hartranft, Derek Drake, Brian Moreau, and Pierce Brown. Brandon Hartranft, #30, is competing in his second full year in the 250SX class. He finished sixth overall in the 2019 250 SX East Championship and was recently the runner up of Red Bull Straight Rhythm. Derek Drake made his professional MX debut at Hangtown last season and is looking forward to joining the team full-time for the 2020 SX/MX season. French rider Brian Moreau will be making his full-time U.S. debut. Moreau, #104, placed fifth in the Amateur All-Star Class at the 2018 Monster Energy Cup. Lastly, Pierce Brown made his full-time pro debut in the 250SX class last season. The team is looking forward to an incredible season for 2020.
The first use of a Bluetooth headset in a pro-level racing environment was this past October 5th, when the TLD racing team lined up at the starting gate of the 2019 Red Bull Straight Rhythm. This industry first was a result of the vision that Troy Lee himself has for incorporating Sena Bluetooth communication into SX and MX racing to bring a new level of safety to the athletes on the track, and the possibility to provide fans with unprecedented access to real-time audio from their favorite racers.
“I have been personally running Sena’s communication on my off-road expeditions for the past year and won’t ride without it now. So, it was a no brainer for us to take advantage of this opportunity to bring them aboard the TLD/ Red Bull/ KTM Team for all of our communication needs. We are looking forward to tapping into the capabilities of Sena products especially on the safety side” said Troy Lee, of Troy Lee Designs.
In addition to providing the potential for an all-new level of on-track rider safety, building on the current flagging system, Sena communication devices offer both rider-to-rider communication as well as rider-to-mechanic communication. Communication is a valuable tool for training as coaches and mechanics can get a message to riders on the track in real-time. Sena communication can be a great track-side practice and training tool for all of the amateur riders and their families/teams, not just the pros!
Monster Energy AMA Supercross kicks off on January 4th in Anaheim, California. See the full schedule below.
