Raising funds and awareness for
Doctors Without Borders
Matthew (Poodle) & Megan Snyman are two South African medical doctors, travelling from Argentina to Alaska on motorcycles in order to raise funds and awareness for Doctors Without Borders’ tuberculosis program and Kind Cuts for Kids, a charity that does complicated surgeries in 3rd world countries.
Matthew was born in Somerset West, South Africa and is now based at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa, where he specializes in urology. He also comes from a long line of competitive racers, ralliers, risk takers and lunatics! His family ran the Droomers Garages in the Western Cape that specialized in motorsports on four wheels, two wheels and water.
Born in Pretoria Gauteng and raised in Cape Town, Megan worked at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, where she served in the Department of Internal Medicine. Her thirst for adventure was discovered early when her mom often brought her on long Sunday drives to “see new places” and on holidays to lesser known farms and places in South Africa. Megan would also go on long treks through the wilderness with school groups and spent a month backpacking the Gold Coast of Australia prior to this current adventure.
Her love for motorcycles started with her father rebuilding one in the yard as a child—though she never thought she’d actually ride one herself.
