| The latency performance test measures the elapsed time required to transmit and receive serial data between a networked PC and an Ethernet-attached device server. The test sends a packet, consisting of one byte of data, over the Ethernet network, to a remote serial device server where the data is echoed back to the originating PC. Echoing of the data is accomplished using a loop-back plug that connects the RS-232 Tx data pin to the Rx data pin. |
