Located on all hospital information desks of each floor, it is possible to page doctors and nurses through the established interphones.

The interphone, which has a serial communication port, is connected with the HelloDevice. A SMS server is operated separately on the network. The interphone automatically transfers previously defined data through the RS232 serial port by simple button-press operation. The HelloDevice converts this data to TCP/IP and transfers it to the SMS server. Ultimately, the SMS server converts this data to a SMS message and sends it to the doctor or nurses cellular phone. In this way, a medical staff automatic paging system is working

From the viewpoint of the patient, preparedness for an emergency situation can be enhanced, since medical staff may be paged at a lesser time through easier manipulation of the interphone compared to prior methods of manual paging operations. Furthermore, since the existing network lines in the hospital may be used and no separate wiring construction is needed to set up serial RS422/485 lines, the costs may be reduced
