Network-enabling Healthcare Monitoring Devices
Target Device Healthcare Monitoring Devices
Healthcare environments such as hospitals and laboratories rely mostly upon monitoring devices like blood analyzers, pulse oximeters, and liquid analyzers to efficiently diagnose and treat patients.
Motive
Most of the above mentioned monitoring devices have a serial port, rely on a dedicated PC and a manual data collection process that requires the valuable time of medical personnel such as nurses and technicians- time that could be better spent on patient care, monitoring and diagnostics.
Therefore, the customer began looking to add network connectivity to effectively monitor these devices from remote locations; however, they realized that a ??cost-effective?? Multi-port device server was required. They also wanted to have a flexibility to reset their Medical devices when an event occurs at serial side. With these requirements in mind, the Sena Business Partner recommended a solution, the HelloDevice SS800 and they are using now.
In addition to the Serial to Ethernet conversion functionality that enables the customer to monitor measurement devices remotely, Sena has provided a customized application, which is featured with ??serial-break" signal and can be uploaded to the SS800's user space. By adding the ??serial-break" signal application, the SS800, is now able to send a break signal to Medical devices that resets when an event occurs at serial side, which the customer has desired.
The customer is now happy with the ??serial-break" signal functionality that is provided by the Customization features of the Super Series.
