This Month's Q&A

Q. Do Sena Bluetooth-Serial adapters Parani-SD100/200/200L support 7 data bit communication?

A. The Parani-SD100/200/200L only supports 8 data bit setting. However, if you use a pair of SD100/200/200L units or use SD100/200/200L with Parani-MSP1000 Bluetooth Access Point (or aka Bluetooth/IP gateway), it is possible to be used with serial devices with 7 data bit even/odd/space parity settings.
  • If you use a pair of SD100/200/200L, configure serial settings of the SD units as 8 data bit none parity. Leave your device serial settings as 7 data bit even/odd/space parity. The 7 bit data will be converted to 8 bit data by a SD unit then converted back to 7 bit data on the other SD unit.
  • If you use an SD100/200/200L with MSP1000, configure serial settings of the SD units as 8 data bit none parity, and leave your device serial settings as 7 data bit even parity or 7 data bit odd parity. On the MSP1000 miscellaneous serial settings, enable 7-data bit emulator as your device serial settings.

Device Server puts Lottery Terminal Kiosks Online

Lottery Terminal Kiosks are placed in the most common areas, from Super Markets, Liquor Stores, etc. Most Kiosks use traditional serial modems connected to leased lines for communications with Lottery payment processors.

By making use of any one of Sena Technologies serial device servers, you will be able to network enable your Lottery terminal Kiosks, and be able to communicate to remote Lottery payment centers, and remotely monitor and control a large amount of devices having to be within the vicinity of the device, which result in reduced downtime, and faster-response time for diagnostics and repair.
