In this month, I’d like to introduce how to set up Bluetooth barcode scanner to work with Parani-MSP1000 Bluetooth access point.
Below is the picture of the Bluetooth barcode scanner to be used.

Another shot of the barcode scanner from the front. I guess you need to avoid exposure from the laser to keep the vision good!
One more shot of the Bluetooth barcode scanner together with MSP1000. They will exchange barcode data each other via Bluetooth.
The paper under the barcode scanner isn’t just for the picture shot! The barcode printed on the page is the BD address of Parani-MSP1000.
The barcode scanner must know the BD address of MSP1000 to connect to it. This Bluetooth barcode scanner sets the BD address of target device by scanning it.
The picture below is the scanning process of MSP1000’s BD address. Once it’s scanned, there is nothing more to configure with Bluetooth barcode scanner. So simple!

Once you’re done with Bluetooth barcode set up, you need to configure the Parani-MSP1000 to pair with the Bluetooth barcode scanner.
First, log in to Parani-MSP1000 web management system, and select Network->IP configuration menu, set IP information.
In Serial Port Profile -> Pairing mode configuration menu, set Pairing mode to ‘Custom’.
In Serial Port Profile -> Port configuration menu,
Click “Add” button to add a new Remote device, then click the BD address of remote device.
Then following Port #1 configuration screen will appear. Set BD address of the barcode scanner and set Port pairing mode to ‘Acceptor’.
Click Network service menu, then following screen will appear. Click ‘Listening on 7000′.
Set ‘Local port number’ to 7001.
Now the configuration of MSP1000 is done.
Now let’s see if the system works good.
According to the above configurations, data is sent from barcode scanner to Parani-MSP1000.(IP : 192.168.18.145 / Port : 7001). We used ‘Tera Term’ terminal emulation software for barcde data display.
Below is a screen capture of the ‘Tera Term’ program to connect to the MSP1000.
Now let Tera Term connects to MSP1000(IP : 192.168.18.145 / Port : 7001), we scanned test barcode. The red light looks threatening!
Whenever we scan the barcode, the barcode data appears in ‘Tera Term’ screen correctly, and that’s it for this month’s topic!
